Presented by Frederic G. Reamer, Ph.D.
Dr. Reamer provides an overview and in-depth examination of compelling ethical challenges in social work. Building on introductory ethics concepts, he explores difficult ethics cases and practical strategies designed to protect clients and practitioners. The program includes a series of challenging ethics cases, involving conflicting professional duties, and discusses practical steps that professionals can take to manage ethical issues skillfully. Key topics include boundary issues, dual relationships, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, privileged communication, informed consent, clients’ rights, termination of services, and impaired professionals. Dr. Reamer discusses relevant ethical standards: statutes, regulations, and case law; social and cultural diversity and competence; supervision; and consultation. The workshop focuses especially on complex documentation issues, and Dr. Reamer makes extensive use of case material.
