Challenging Behaviors October 16, 2013 from 4:00 pm– 6:00 pm at the Dumbarton Library In Henrico, VA What pushes your button when children display certain behaviors? Do you understand the relationship between your reaction to behavior and the affect it ultimately has on young children? This workshop will help us better understand the relationship between challenging behavior and social –emotional development. We will discuss strategies for building positive relationships with children and creating environments where every child can be successful.
Planning Activities that Promote Engagement January 9, 2014 from 4:00 pm– 6:00 pm at the Tuckahoe Library in Henrico, VA One of the keys to preventing challenging behavior is to ensure that children are actively engaged in the classroom! We will look at small and large group times in the daily routine and ways that every child can participate in a meaningful way. Ideas for teaching transitions, routines and classroom rules will be shared.
Developing Friendship Skills and Problem Solving Skills with Young Children March 6, 2014 from 4:00 pm– 6:00 pm at the Glen Allen Library in Henrico, VA Teaching social-emotional skills with young children is a necessary foundation in an early childhood classrooms. By developing friendship skills and identifying feelings, children are facilitated in their attempts to become part of the classroom community. Ideas for controlling anger and impulse and developing problem-solving skills will be shared.
