Earthquakes: Mean Business
Saint Louis University's Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology and the Heartland Center for Public Health Preparedness are proud to host Earthquakes: Mean Business (EBM), a public outreach offering of the regional geoscience, engineering and emergency management community. The program is an effort to raise awareness of earthquake hazards and earthquake risk in the central United States and explain how we can better prepare for future events. It will consist of morning presentations, a luncheon seminar and afternoon break-out sessions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with exhibitors who will provide information and resources to assist businesses in disaster preparation and business continuity planning. Who Should Attend The information presented at the program is applicable to a wide range or individuals and organizations--from those who are simply interested in earthquakes, to companies involved in new construction; from personnel in earthquake risk management and mitigation, to those in the emergency management or emergency preparedness community. An earthquake in the region will impact all facets of society and industry. Nearly everyone, regardless of background or area of expertise, has as stake in the issue and something to gain from Earthquakes: Mean Business. Continuing Education/Professional Development We are pleased to announce that Saint Louis University's Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology will be issuing a certificate for 7 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) to all engineers and architects who attend Earthquakes: Mean Business for the duration of the event. These PDHs can count towards state mandated continuing education requirements for professional recertification. Attendees will beasked at check-in whether or not they are in an applicable field andwould like the certificate. Eligible attendees will receive thecertificate after the event has concluded at no additional cost. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance with the event date and times, which may be used to document attendance when completing professional recertification continuing education requirements in a number of other fields, such as disaster recovery.
