Eni’s Chief Exploration Officer, Luca Bertelli, will open EMGC 2018 with a high-profile keynote address on Day 1.

Mr. Bertelli was born in Sesto Fiorentino, Italy, on October 5, 1958 and has been Chief Exploration Officer of Eni since July 2014.

In 1984, he joined Eni’s geophysics division, working first as a researcher in the development of 3D seismic prospecting technology and subsequently as a manager of 3D seismic prospecting programs, specializing in seismic stratigraphy.

In 1994, Mr. Bertelli was appointed manager of seismic stratigraphy applications. In 1999, he increased the technical and managerial scope of his activities by becoming manager of geological and geophysical services at Eni.

At the end of 2001, his career took an international turn when he took on positions of increasing managerial complexity over a period of eight years. He first became Technical Director and Deputy Managing Director at Norsk Agip in Norway. In 2003, he was appointed Managing Director of Eni Indonesia, and in 2006, he moved to Egypt as General Manager and Managing Director, a position he also held at Eni Angola in 2007.

In 2009, Mr. Bertelli returned to Eni’s headquarters as Senior Vice Chairman of Global Exploration. He was appointed Executive Vice President of Exploration and Unconventional at the beginning of 2010. He graduated with honors in geology in 1983 from the University of Florence.

Conference and Gastech international events.

Ms. Blume previously worked as Managing Editor at Hydrocarbon Publishing Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds an MA degree in English
and publishing from Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, as well as BA degrees (hons) in English and anthropology from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Roberto Bruschi

Mr. Roberto Bruschi is Vice President, Advanced Engineering Services and
Technology Innovation Projects.

In 1980, he joined Snamprogetti as a junior analyst dedicated to the mathematical modeling of soil-structurefluid interaction for submarine pipelines, offshore structures and floaters-offshore vessels. There, he was responsible for advanced engineering studies for the most challenging
offshore pipelines projects undertaken in the Mediterranean and North Seas, including the Blue Stream pipeline across the Black Sea and the Sakhalin Pipelines, Phase 2. He was also responsible for corporate research and development and international JIR projects in offshore and land pipeline
technology, particularly addressing reliability-based limit state design, as well as the application of high-grade steels in long-distance, high-capacity, high-pressure gas pipelines crossing harsh environments.

Mr. Bruschi joined Saipem in 2006, where he is responsible for the Subsea and Pipelines Department, including engineering services on environmental engineering, integrity management, umbilical riser-flowline, subsea
structures, flow assurance, sealine design, loss and prevention, advanced technologies engineering analysis and materials.

He holds an MA degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Pisa (Italy).

twenty years. He began his career as a Design/Project Engineer and Project Manager and worked for other companies, including the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), before he joined Oceaneering.

John holds a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (HTI - Cyprus), and Bachelors and Masters of Engineering degrees, both in Mechanical Engineering (Solid Dynamics & Machine Design) from the City University of New York (CCNY).

Wissam Edmond Chbat has 21 years of
experience in the oil and gas industry. He
graduated from the American University of
Beirut in 1995 with a BE degree in electrical
engineering, and holds an MS degree in finance from
the Ecole Supérieure Des affaires-Beirut and ESCP-EAP
Europe. He joined Schlumberger Oilfield Services in 1997
and held various field operations, operations management
(multi-segments) and business development positions,
with considerable technical experience in challenging
operations, such as under-balanced wells, high-pressure
high-temperature (HPHT) and deepwater operations.
Mr. Chbat worked in Venezuela, Indonesia, West and South
Africa, Algeria and India gathering wide international
experience before joining the Lebanese Ministry of Energy
and Water as the Upstream Advisor to the Minister in late
2009. He was involved in the planning for the first licensing
round and working on the institutional, technical, fiscal and
legal frameworks of the oil and gas sector in Lebanon.
In December 2012, he was appointed by the Council of
Ministers as a board member at the Lebanese Petroleum
Administration and Head of the Geology and Geophysics
department. During his mandate as a Chairman in 2017, the
licensing round was relaunched and closed successfully
with the award of two offshore blocks.

Gina started her natural gas career when she helped establish the local branches of BG Group in Israel and Palestine in 1998, and moved on to become a private consultant in 2004 in which capacity she continued to work the same projects.

Gina has been involved either on behalf of governmental institutions or major oil and gas companies in all the aspects of the local natural gas market. Her work has spanned activities from the Gas Law, the Sheshinski Law, the debates of the Zemach Committee on natural gas exports from Israel, the regulatory and permitting process for the construction and siting of the natural gas facilities in Israel, assistance in the writing of the Natural Gas Guide Book, and a number of other projects.

In addition, during her years of work, Gina was involved in all aspects of the gas chain in Israel and offshore Gaza, with her activities spanning from exploration & development, to transmission & distribution, to gas sales and purchase negotiations either on behalf of buyers or sellers.

On the international front, Gina has carried out feasibility and/or due diligence studies for projects such as the construction of natural gas generated independent power plants (IPPs) as well as FLNG projects.

Gina lectures on Natural Gas Law and Economy at the Technion University’s Graduate Program for Petroleum Engineers as well as the University of Cyprus. She is the author of the Hebrew-English energy lexicon (www.hebrewenergy.com) used by all professionals in the Israeli petroleum sector.

Prior to this, as chief executive of KRETYK, Ellinas was responsible for implementing Cyprus government’s strategy for the development of its hydrocarbons sector. Until 2012, he was a director of Mott MacDonald for 25 years and the managing director of Mott MacDonald’s oil, gas and petrochemicals business world-wide.

Department in the Petroleum Unit of the Israeli Ministry of Energy, where he is responsible for promoting and regulating exploration activity offshore and onshore Israel.

Dr. Gardosh has extensively studied the petroleum systems of Israel and the geology of the Levant basin, and has published numerous articles and reports on these subjects.

Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis is a graduate of the English School, Nicosia and has studied mathematics and computer science (BSc) at the University of Keele in the UK (1988-1991). He completed his postgraduate studies in business administration (MBA) at the University of Colorado in the USA, on a Fulbright scholarship (1993-1995).

In 1991 he joined Joannou & Paraskevaides, assigned to oversee the IT systems at the company’s branch in Benghazi, Libya. In 1995, upon his
return to Cyprus from his studies in the US, he joined IBM Cyprus, where for the next six years he worked in sales. In 2003 he was the first employee hired by Microsoft in Cyprus, entrusted with developing the company’s
operations in the country. In 2008 he was appointed managing director for Microsoft Cyprus and Malta, while in November 2011 he was appointed public sector director at Microsoft central & eastern Europe. In addition, in 2008 he was appointed by the Council of Ministers as a member of the board of directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA), a position he held until November 2011. In 2009 he was also appointed as a member of the board of directors of the Natural Gas Public Company (DEFA), a position he held until his appointment as Minister of Commerce.

Lakkotrypis assumed office as Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism on 1 March 2013.

Mr. Mitrou has also been deeply involved in MARPOL and chemical codes matters. He has represented Lloyd’s Register in a number of international forums, research and other projects developed within the TEN-T and other EU frameworks. He is presently involved in the rollout and materialization of special projects, such as Poseidon Med, CYnergy and elemed.

Lucas Schmitt is a key member of Wood Mackenzie’s LNG and Global Gas
Research team. He leads Wood Mackenzie’s analysis of short-term LNG trading dynamics and is a major contributor to the LNG service and LNG
corporate service.

For the last 4 years, he has also specialized in gas and LNG market analysis of the East Mediterranean and the Middle East. He is the company’s leading expert on gas dynamics in the East Mediterranean and has authored several major reports.

Mr. Schmitt has delivered a number of advisory projects for some of the biggest players in the region, including major gas resource holders, industrial buyers and government entities. His expertise spans supply economics, gas supply and demand fundamentals.

He joined Wood Mackenzie in 2013. Prior to this, he worked at GDF Suez (now Engie) in Paris as an analyst in the European gas strategy group. Mr. Schmitt holds MS degrees in energy economics from the French Petroleum Institute (IFP School) and in engineering from the French University of Mines.
