Keynote Speaker-Day 1, Chief Exploration Officer, Eni
Eni’s Chief Exploration Officer, Luca Bertelli, will open EMGC 2018 with a high-profile keynote address on Day 1.

Mr. Bertelli was born in Sesto Fiorentino, Italy, on October 5, 1958 and has been Chief Exploration Officer of Eni since July 2014.

In 1984, he joined Eni’s geophysics division, working first as a researcher in the development of 3D seismic prospecting technology and subsequently as a manager of 3D seismic prospecting programs, specializing in seismic stratigraphy.

In 1994, Mr. Bertelli was appointed manager of seismic stratigraphy applications. In 1999, he increased the technical and managerial scope of his activities by becoming manager of geological and geophysical services at Eni.

At the end of 2001, his career took an international turn when he took on positions of increasing managerial complexity over a period of eight years. He first became Technical Director and Deputy Managing Director at Norsk Agip in Norway. In 2003, he was appointed Managing Director of Eni Indonesia, and in 2006, he moved to Egypt as General Manager and Managing Director, a position he also held at Eni Angola in 2007.

In 2009, Mr. Bertelli returned to Eni’s headquarters as Senior Vice Chairman of Global Exploration. He was appointed Executive Vice President of Exploration and Unconventional at the beginning of 2010. He graduated with honors in geology in 1983 from the University of Florence.

Charles Ellinas has over 36 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector in senior management positions. He is currently chief executive officer of e-CNHC (E-C Cyprus Natural Hydrocarbons Company Ltd); providing management and advisory services in the oil and gas and energy sectors in Cyprus and the region.

Prior to this, as chief executive of KRETYK, Ellinas was responsible for implementing Cyprus government’s strategy for the development of its hydrocarbons sector. Until 2012, he was a director of Mott MacDonald for 25 years and the managing director of Mott MacDonald’s oil, gas and petrochemicals business world-wide.

Wissam Edmond Chbat has 21 years’ experience in the oil and gas E&P. He graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1995 (BE in electrical engineering) and holds a master’s in finance from the Ecole Supérieure Des affaires- Beirut and ESCP-EAP Europe. He joined Schlumberger oilfield services in 1997 and held various field operations, operations management (multi-segments) and business development positions with considerable technical experience in challenging operations such as under-balanced wells, HPHT and deep water operations. He worked in Venezuela, Indonesia, West and South Africa, Algeria and India gathering wide international experience before Joining the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water as the upstream advisor to the Minister in late 2009 involved in the planning for the first licensing round and working on the institutional , technical , fiscal and legal frameworks of the oil and gas sector in Lebanon . Since 4 December, 2012, he was appointed by the Council of Ministers as a board member at the Lebanese Petroleum Administration and head of the Geology and Geophysics Department. During his mandate as a Chairman in 2017 , the licensing round was re-launched and closed successfully with the award of two offshore blocks .

Mr. Friedman has accrued many years of experience in international M&As, business development, finance and strategy, and in managing teams and organizations.

He had served as VP Strategy at Avner Oil Exploration.
Mr. Friedman specialized in projects in the various fields of energy: electricity, renewable energies and natural gas, and worked as an attorney with law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Mr. Friedman holds an LLB from Tel Aviv University.

Adrienne Blume is Executive Editor of Hydrocarbon Processing and Editor of Gas Processing at Gulf Publishing Company in Houston, Texas. Her areas of focus for the publications cover the midstream and downstream markets—i.e., natural gas processing/LNG, oil refining and petrochemicals production.

She speaks and moderates at natural gas conferences and events around the world, and is published in several industry journals. She sits on the advisory board of GasPro Americas, an annual technology-focused event held in Houston, and provides key support for the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Conference and Gastech international events.

Ms. Blume previously worked as Managing Editor at Hydrocarbon Publishing Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds an MA degree in English and Publishing from Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, as well as BA degrees (hons) in English and Anthropology from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.
