Ecosystem and Habitat Management: Research, Policy, Practice
(10 BASIS Points have been awarded as follows: 2 CP, 7 E and 1 AP)

The management of ecosystems and habitats generally focuses on the direct manipulation of vegetation, or factors controlling it, to deliver required outcomes. The approaches used not only influence species responses, but also how land functions to protect and provide resources, support livelihoods, and promote human well-being. Effective management of ecosystems and habitats requires evidence to inform both policy development and “hands-on” implementation, involving academics, conservation managers, ecological consultants, local authority staff, the private sector and
policy- makers. This conference will bring these parties together to explore new developments in research, policy and practice relevant to ecosystem and habitat management.

We invite offers of papers in areas associated with ecosystem and habitat management in its widest sense, including those covering:
• Policy and legislative aspects
• Management for the delivery of ecosystem services
• Control of native and non-native invasive weed species
• Management of pests and diseases of agriculture and forestry
• Woodland management
• Management for climate change adaptation and mitigation
• Flood prevention and catchment management
• Management of freshwater habitats
• Landscape connectivity
• Re-wilding
• Biodiversity offsetting, habitat creation and restoration
• Urban environments - brownfield sites and green infrastructure
• Moorland and upland management
• Agri-environment schemes
• Conservation habitat management for protected species
• Management of transport corridors - roads and railways
• Coastal realignment
