“Foundations of Massachusetts Early Intervention”, is the orientation program that is required for new providers entering into to MA Early Intervention. The orientation consists of a series of online prerequisites followed by two face to face workshops.
REMINDER: EI specialists who have participated in either Embedding the Key Principles into the IFSP Process OR Building a Community, part I do NOT need to attend Foundations of MA EI, part I to fulfill the DPH orientation requirement.
Registration for Foundations of Massachusetts Early Intervention Part I: Partnering with families throughout the IFSP process below will ALSO register you for the pre-requisite on-line trainings.
You will receive a confirmation email with specific instructions to access each of the on-line trainings once you complete the registration for Foundations of Massachusetts Early Intervention, Part I.

The face to face sessions will offer an opportunity for participants to apply the knowledge gained through the online training. The focus of the face to face sessions will be for participants to share ideas with facilitators and other participants and actively practice using and applying their knowledge via, case studies as well as small and large group discussions.
Participants will complete the following online offerings prior to attending Foundations of MA EI, part 1: Partnering with Families Throughout the IFSP process. NOTE: Participants MUST complete Foundations of MA EI, part I before attending part II, and must also complete the following pre-requisite on-line trainings:
• History of Massachusetts Early Intervention 8.1
• Principles and Practices of Early Intervention: Child Development 1.1;1.4
This training along with the required online prerequisites will award participants competencies
7.1 Specialists will demonstrate an understanding of roles, functions, and dynamics of teams within Early Intervention.
4.1 EI Specialists will demonstrate knowledge of federal and state components and requirements throughout the IFSP process, including procedural safeguards.
