As part of its analytical perspectives on the United States Fiscal Year 2013 budget, the Office of Management and Budget illustrates the roles knowledge management and talent development have on organizational performance. In summary:The work of the United States federal government has a real effect on people's lives. The American people deserve a highly effective government which in turn requires an engaged, well-prepared, and well-trained workforce. However, the federal government faces two immediate challenges: preparing for retirements in order to maximize knowledge transfer from one generation to the next, and hiring and developing the next generation of civil servants to successfully complete the varied and challenging missions of the federal government.Download the Analytical Perspectives on the United States Fiscal Year 2013 budget here.
