Integrating ACT, DBT and Exposure Therapy to Help Clients Become More Powerful with their EmotionsThe impact of low emotion efficacy in our society is wide and far reaching. Research literature suggests that low emotion efficacy creates and maintains tremendous suffering for the more than 75 percent of people who seek psychotherapy across multiple diagnostic categories (Kring & Sloan, 2010). Emotion Efficacy Therapy (EET) provides a brief transdiagnostic treatment to empower clients to develop a new more effective and contextually adaptive relationship with their emotions. By targeting the transdiagnostic drivers of emotion avoidance and distress intolerance, EET integrates theory and research with practical skills clients can use to effectively navigate difficult and intense emotional activation. EET components integrate Emotion Awareness, Mindful Acceptance, Values-Based Action and Mindful Coping in an exposure-based protocol. This training will have both didactic and experiential components. Participants will receive psychoeducation about the way in which EET components target the underlying drivers of low emotion efficacy, and participate in live demonstrations using exposure to practice each of the major EET skills during intense emotion activation. EET can be administered across a broad range of settings, including individual therapy, group therapy, executive coaching and employee growth and development workshops.
