Schedule of Events Monday, May 5, 2014 4 - 7 pm Attendee Check-In Tuesday, May 6, 2014 8 am - 1:30 pm Attendee Check-In 8:30 - 11:30 am Board of Directors Meeting ENA Members are welcome to attend the public board meeting and witness the board in action. 1 - 1:45 pm What to Expect When Advocating on Capitol Hill Learn from Senior Congressional staffers about how Congressional offices function, what to expect when meeting with a member of Congress, and how to get the most out of your Congressional visit.
2 - 2:20 pm ENA Government Relations Team Receive important training and preparation for your Day on the Hill. ENA's Chief Government Relations Officer, Richard Mereu, and Director of Government Relations, Ken Steinhardt, will go over what to expect and answer any logistical questions you may have about your Capitol Hill visit. 2:30 - 3:45 pm Advocacy Briefing Receive detailed information on ENA's Congressional requests from experts on these matters and learn why these are important. 5:30 - 7 pm Networking Reception Enjoy networking with fellow ENA members at a reception. The reception will be hosted in collaboration with the ENA Foundation. Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served along with a cash bar. A complimentary beverage coupon will be provided. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 6 - 10 am Breakfast Hot breakfast conveniently served at Restaurant Mez with exclusive seating for ENA members. Meet with other members to exchange advocacy ideas, meeting plans, and strategies for Day on the Hill.
8 - 9 am Coffee with Members of Congress Congressman Michael Burgess, M.D., (TX) and Congressman Diane Black (TN), who is a former ER nurse, are scheduled to address ENA members on Capitol Hill. * Due to limited capacity, this event will be attended by the Board of Directors and one representative from each state, designated by the state president. Individual Congressional Meetings on Capitol Hill Use the information learned in Tuesday's meetings when you convene with your local Congressional leaders regarding public policy issues that closely impact emergency nursing. Please schedule your meeting(s) with your Representatives and Senators before you arrive in Washington, DC for the Day on the Hill event. * Congressional speakers are scheduled to appear, however, their schedules are fluid and may have things come up that would preclude them from attending or restrict the amount of time available for this event.
