End of Life Nursing Consortium (ELNEC) AUGUST 1 & 2, 2018

Hello and thank you for your interest in the 2018 End of Live Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC). this training is for ALL healthcare clinicians, though it was designed as a 'train the trainer' activity for inpatient nurses. The content covered is so very important as we deal with our patients on a daily basis. End of life care is difficult and that is why it is so important to be prepared. Here are some things to ask yourself as a provider:

  1. Who does this patient rely on for support?
  2. Does the family unit, including beloved friends, significant other, children, etc. really know and understand what is happening to the patient?
  3. Is there a DNR in place? How and who talks to the family/patient about this?
  4. How do healthcare providers practice good self-care and are YOU doing it?
  5. Who and how is the 'bad or sad' news about the patients condition and impending demise explained to the patient? The family?

These are a few questions to consider, and we know there are so many more. This two-day course will answer many of the hard, ethical, and clinical questions we have when dealing with palliative care patients. You will be introduced to resources available to assist you in your work, and be the role model in your area to make the end of life transition for patients and families the best it can be.
