Erosion & Sediment Control/Stormwater Inspector/Installer (includes optional NCDOT Level I exam)

Summary

This course is designed for those who inspect and/or install erosion and sediment control on construction sites. The course emphasizes the function and proper installation of best management practices used by NCDOT to minimize or control erosion and sedimentation. Also covered are the basics of soil erosion, vegetation establishment, and stream restoration. Additional subjects will include implementation of erosion/sediment control plans, requirements of various regulatory agencies, and consequences of permit violations.  An optional exam will be offered at the end of the day for those seeking NCDOT Level I certification.

Field Training:
This course contains a hands-on field training component.  Please watch the weather and wear clothing appropriate for field work.

NCDOT Recertification:
Due to very low customer demand for Level I Recertification, the Recertification course will be held simultaneously with the Level I Initial course.  When you click the "Register" button above, you will have an option to choose the Initial training or the Recertification training.

Who Should Attend?

DOT/CEI: NCDOT and CEI personnel inspecting seeding, mulching, silt fence placement, topsoil placement, erosion control blanket installation, riprap placement, inlet protection, culvert installations in water bodies and embankment construction near rivers, lakes, and streams.

Contractors: Crew member of grass establishment/seeding contractor, grading contractor and bridge personnel installing temporary erosion and sediment control/stormwater devices.

Previously Certified?
If you have previously been certified at Level I, and have changed employers, you do NOT need to take the initial Level I training again. Your certification stays with you when you change jobs. Register for Level I-R (Recertification) at the appropriate time for your renewal.
