Erosion & Sediment Control/Stormwater Inspector/Installer (includes optional NCDOT Level I Initial and Recertification exams)

Summary

This course is designed for those who install erosion and sediment control on construction sites. The course emphasizes the function and proper installation of best management practices used by NCDOT to minimize or control erosion and sediment losses off site. Also covered are the basics of soil erosion, vegetation establishment, and stream restoration. Additional subjects will include implementation of erosion/sediment control plans, requirements of various regulatory agencies, and consequences of permit violations. The class is ideal for th ose just starting in erosion and sediment control or those wanting a refresher.

Recertification:
Due to very low customer demand for Level I Recertification, the Recertification course will be held simultaneously with the Level I Initial course.  When you click the "Register" button above, you will have an option to choose the Initial training or the Recertification training.

Field Training:
The Mills River class does not contain a field training component.
Those who are new to erosion and sediment control or who would like additional training and experience should attend a Raleigh class for a field training component. The Raleigh initial Level I class will last approximately 2 hours longer than those planned for other locations, finishing by 5pm. (The New Bern and Mills River initial Level I classes will adjourn by 3pm.)

Who Should Attend?

DOT/CEI: NCDOT and CEI personnel inspecting seeding, mulching, silt fence placement, topsoil placement, erosion control blanket installation, riprap placement, inlet protection, culvert installations in water bodies and embankment construction near rivers, lakes, and streams.

Contractor: Crew member of turf establishment/seeding contractor, grading contractor and bridge personnel installing temporary erosion and sediment control/stormwater devices.

Previously Certified?
If you have previously been certified at Level I, and have changed employers, you do NOT need to take the initial Level I training again. Your certification stays with you when you change jobs. Register for Level I-R (Recertification) at the appropriate time for your renewal.
