NEW!! JOB COACH CREDENTIAL and TRAINING!
In collaboration with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, the Maine Department of Labor’s Bureau of Rehabilitation Services is pleased to announce a new Job Coach training and credential.
Earning the Job Coach Credential, training consists of two parts: an 18 module online training from the College of Employment Services and a day long face to face training in Fading Supports in the Workplace.
Participants have six months to complete the online and face to face training. During this time they must be directly supervised by a certified Employment Specialist.
The online modules are on demand—you can register and enroll at any time once you apply for the credential program.
The Fading Supports face to face workshop will take 3 times yearly in Augusta. You must register yourself for the workshop. The registration links can be found at http://www.syntiro.org/calendars.html. You must complete the modules before attending the face to face training and both the modules and face to face training must be completed within six months of registering for the Job Coach Program.
The fee for this program is $200.00. (This includes the online modules and the face to face training.) Payment for the Job Coach Credential Program must be made prior to starting the on-line training.
Once you register you will be sent information
to log on and begin the online training. If you are already in the Maine College of Employment Services program it takes up to a week to get your log in information shared with us.

Minimum requirements for staff providing Employment Services (Certified Employment Specialist or certified Job Coach) include a H.S. Diploma or a GED and at least one year (FTE) of work experience. At least one year of experience working with a person with a disability is preferred.
All direct service staff will have criminal background checks completed. Criminal convictions within the past five years may disqualify the staff person as a provider of employment services.
All direct service employees that transport clients (even if it is on an occasional basis) will have a valid Maine driver’s license and current auto insurance.
