Excellence in Teaching for Nurse Educators

Summary

School’s out for summer… which means it is time for one of our most sought-after Continuing Nursing Education Institutes: Excellence in Teaching for Nurse Educators on May 14-16th and May 23-25th at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing!

The UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing is a nationally ranked school with a strong record for exceptional education. Our long-standing program exemplifies the cutting-edge, creative, and effective undergraduate and graduate education that is necessary to prepare nurses for today’s health care environment. Every summer, the Center for Lifelong Learning at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing offers a multi-day course to share the knowledge and insight that our faculty members have gained through experience, research and passion in teaching. Using innovative and interactive teaching approaches, we cover everything from teaching theories, test construction, and innovative teaching strategies to inclusive excellence, handling student incivility, and helping students thrive.

Using feedback from last year, we have extended our new format for this year's program to include 6 days on campus! Participants will attend the course for 3 days, Monday through Wednesday, before a 4-day break for thoughtful reflection. Upon return the following Wednesday through Friday, participants will have the opportunity to apply what they learned in the development of interactive and collaborative case studies.

Whether you are new to the role of educator or are simply looking to learn and grow with new tools and techniques, you will complete this course with a fresh motivation and enthusiasm for teaching and learning. And if that is not enough, this course was developed to completely meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) standard requiring 45 continuing education hours for faculty who teach in undergraduate pre-licensure programs.

Registration is limited in order to maximize the time that faculty can spend with each participant; it fills up fast every year, so do hesitate to sign up now!
