Expressive Therapies Summit 2017 - Proposal Site

Email your questions to

When will I be notified about the program selection, if I submit a proposal?

Thank you so much for your proposal.
We receive many, many great proposals, and review each one very carefully.
We typically send out acceptance notices via email during the month of June.

What makes the Summit different?
         The Summit is:
  • MULTIMODAL, featuring all of the creative arts therapies
  • INTERMODAL, emphasizing collaborative workshops by 2 or more specialists
  • MULTIDISCIPLINARY, including professionals and content from other fields

Who should attend?
While sessions will be geared toward experienced creative arts therapies professionals, a good number of sessions will be appropriate for graduate students and nonspecialists, including many of the experiential workshops.

Why New York City?
To start with, there is a large and vibrant community of creative arts therapies professionals in and around the New York metropolitan area. Also, can you think of any city on this continent more exciting, alluring, and vital to those who value the fine and performing arts? Finally, the food, shopping, and general tourist quotient are world-class. Anywhere else would require too much meeting planner spin...except our new west coast Summit in Los Angeles, of course, where there's a beach and the Pacific ocean just a few minutes away. We're bi-coastal now!
When will notifications be sent to those who submitted proposals?
Notifications are generally emailed by the end of June. Thanks for being patient with our process.

When will the program be posted?
The full schedule for this year's Summit will be posted by the end of July.

When can I register for the Summit?
Earlybird Registration will begin (online only) around late July and run through the summer. Register early! Most weekday classes sold out in advance last year, as did many popular weekend workshops.
Is there a designated Summit hotel?
No part of the Summit is currently scheduled to take part in a hotel, so you can stay wherever you'd like. We've supplied a list of reasonably priced options on the Travel and Lodging tab of this site. In particular, there are many online services like Travelocity, Priceline, Rentalo, and Orbitz to help you find discounted lodging.
Do you offer Student Discounts?
We have a work/study volunteer program for students and others. Just email us at the address listed below for the Work/Study Program, and we will send you an application in July, if you are interested.

What if I can't afford to attend?
We have a work/study volunteer program for students and others. Just email us at the address listed below for the Work/Study Program, and we will send you an application in July, if you are interested.

How should I get to New York?
For those of you on the east coast, there are a number of low-price luxury buses running regularly from points as far south as Washington, DC to as far north as Boston. Of course, there are are also trains and planes. Our best recommendations for travel are posted on the Travel and Lodging tab of this site.
Will we need to move among the various venues for Summit sessions?
Our goal is to keep everyone under the same roof each day of the Summit, so that nobody has to 'commute.' On the weekend, in particular, most sessions will be held at the Executive Conference Center at 48th and Broadway.
Will there be any free time to enjoy the city?
Sessions end by 5:30 each day, so you are free to enjoy the wealth of New York City's night life as you prefer. If it's theater or dance you love, we're just a bagel's throw across the street from the popular TKTS discount ticket booth. Daily registrations are available, so if you need to take a break to visit galleries and museums (or your family in another borough), you can.

What if there's an historic superstorm, Nor'easter, and minor earthquake again this year?

As in 2012, as long as our facilities are open and functioning, the show will go on.
