The Power of Awareness
The Science and Practice of Presence

Dan Siegel2

Daniel J. Siegel, MD, is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. An award-winning educator, Dr. Siegel's unique ability to make complicated scientific concepts exciting and accessible has led him to be invited to address diverse groups including mental health professionals, neuroscientists, corporate leaders, educators, parents, and policy-makers. He has lectured for the King of Thailand, Pope John Paul II, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His upcoming book, Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence (Tarcher/Perigee, August 2018) will provide practical instruction for mastering the Wheel of Awareness, a life-changing tool for cultivating more focus, presence, and peace in one's day-to-day life.
Pre-registrants for this session (on or before April 19) will receive a complimentary eBook copy of Dr. Siegel's
Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation (Bantam, 2010)

STRONGER TOGETHER TM
(our slogan since 2010)

That has been our guiding principle in creating the Expressive Therapies Summit. After a half century of working in parallel process, it's time for us to gather and learn from each other, and work collaboratively toward the success of all the expressive arts therapies. Together we are stronger. So here's our chance to inspire and learn from each other, relax, and recharge.

ARTS & HEALING

We refer to ourselves variously: Creative Arts Therapists, Arts Psychotherapists, Expressive Arts Therapists, Social Emotional Arts Facilitators, Arts in Healing Specialists. We are all of these, and more. Not only do we help others, we do so creatively, using one or more of the visual and performing arts. Not limiting ourselves to a single muse or treatment model, we enable others to express their innermost selves, regardless of age, language, or ability.
