Based on the 12 competency areas outlined in the National Career Development Association (NCDA) Career Development Facilitator curriculum, the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Certification program provides coaches at Virginia’s community colleges with the frameworks and tools needed for effective career coaching.

VCCS will offer two sessions of the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) course, which prepares participants to apply for the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and/or Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential(s). All coaches and staff who have completed the VCCC are eligible to enroll. The FCD course consists of 80 additional hours of training comprised of face-to-face and webinar sessions, reading, assignments, research, and project-based learning. The cost of the FCD training is $120, which covers the cost of the Facilitating Career Development training manual and materials that will be supplied during the face-to-face session.

To complete the FCD program, participants must sign up for one of the following cohorts:

* In case of cancellation due to inclement weather, a make-up session will be held on Feb. 1-2, 2018.

Participants are expected to attend the face-to-face sessions and three webinars assigned to their cohort and should plan accordingly. All FCD face-to-face sessions will be held over two days at the VCCS offices at the Arboretum in Richmond from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. (day 1) and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (day 2).

Participants who complete the VCCC and the FCD courses are eligible to apply for the GCDF credential through the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE)and the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential through the National Career Development Association (NCDA) credentialing commission.

The Career Development Facilitator face-to-face training sessions will take place on the First Floor of the Virginia Community College System Office. 

NOTE: If you enter the building through the front entrance, you are actually on the Second Floor. The training event is one level down on the First Floor.
