Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) can be simply described as the implementation and management of quality IT services that meet the needs of the business. ITSM is performed by IT Service organizations through an appropriate mix of people, process and information technology.
ITSM stands in deliverable contrast to technology centered approaches to IT management and business interaction. Its framework is built around processes and practices that gauge the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions rather than their development. It is philosophically centered on the customer's perspective of IT's contribution to the business rather than the technologies.
ITSM measures the operational efficiency of a solution in meeting the service level expectations of the end-user as well as how technical IT manages these systems to deliver the desired service level. ITEC and many other SUNY campuses and organizations have been traveling further down the road of implementing IT Service Management in order to provide higher quality services to our customers. ITEC has engaged Crossfuze/Inergex to offer the Polestar ITIL Simulation to Wizard Attendees. This highly interactive simulation is a high-impact, energetic way to accelerate understanding and acceptance of service management concepts such as ITIL V3. Facilited in the world of non-profit organizations, Polestar ITSM brings to life the service management, cultural and process issues faced by organizations and encourages strategic partnership between IT and the business. This is done through a realistic, exhilarating scenario to which participants can directly relate to their own experiences.
