The Financial Literacy and Education Commission was created to promote financial education and literacy in the U.S., and coordinate the activities of its members. It is chaired by the Secretary of the Treasury and the vice chair is the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; the following agencies are also part of the FLEC: the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency; the Federal Reserve Board; the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; the National Credit Union Administration; the Securities and Exchange Commission; the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Defense, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, and Veterans Affairs; the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Trade Commission; the General Services Administration; the Small Business Administration; the Social Security Administration; the Commodity Futures Trading Commission; the Office of Personnel Management; and the White House Domestic Policy Council. The Commission is coordinated by the Department of the Treasury's Office of Consumer Policy.
The next meeting of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission will be on February 14, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ET. Networking from 11:30 to 12:00 noon is encouraged. It will be held at the Department of the Treasury, 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (Cash Room), Washington D.C., 20220.
Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, or when the registration pool reaches capacity.
