Focus on Diversity - 25 May 2017 - Osborne Park

The Quality Agency working together with Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing is please to present this one day workshop for both residential and home care aged services.

Delivering services in a culturally inclusive way enhances the quality of service provision to consumers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and embeds inclusive practices into organisational culture.

Meeting the needs of aged care consumers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is about more than the language they speak and their country of origin – it’s about understanding their uniqueness, allowing them to articulate their expectations, and giving them choice and control over their care.

Participants will be required to complete a pre-forum task before attending the forum. You will receive this task in an email following your registration confirmation.

This one day workshop provides an opportunity for managers and leaders to deepen their knowledge and build their capacity around culturally inclusive service provision. It highlights examples of good practice and demonstrates how these practices can be measured against the Accreditation and Home Care Standards.  Participants will explore ways to plan and implement strategies that reflect a culturally inclusive approach in order to enhance outcomes at an individual level and create lasting change at an organisational level.

At this workshop you will reflect on and learn about:

  • cultural diversity within the community you serve
  • organisational responses to cultural diversity
  • good practice goals which aim to achieve equity for consumers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • linking these practices to the Accreditation and Home Care Standards
  • tools and resources which can assist in developing a culturally inclusive approach
