Foot Care for Nurses - Waterloo


This two-day course is designed to equip nurses, Registered, Enrolled and Assistants in Nursing, with the knowledge and skills for maintenance of healthy, functioning feet.

Thursday 16th and Friday 17th November

The course will cover:

  • Legal and professional issues;
  • Anatomy review;
  • Foot, nail and skin abnormalities;
  • Infection control and WHS;
  • Practice of cutting and filing nails on normal feet.  

Course Outcomes: At the completion of the course, the participant will be able to;

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the role of the nurse in the provision of basic foot care;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant legislation, policies, protocols and guidelines relating to the provision of basic foot care;
  • Appropriately assess clients for the provision of basic foot care;
  • Refer any client with a condition requiring further assessment and/or management;
  • Competently provide basic foot care to clients;
  • Provide basic foot care education to clients;
  • Maintain appropriate client records.

NB: This course does not replace or reduce the requirement for qualified podiatry services.
