Program Summary Newer treatment options for restoring endodontically-treated teeth are numerous. The selection of the best treatment for your patients can sometimes be confusing. Find out what is new and then practice it. The morning will be spent reviewing evidence and discussing treatment options for different restorative techniques. The afternoon will be spent hands-on with various restorative procedures. Course Objectives: - Determine what type of foundation is required after endodontic treatment - Make a void-free PVS impression of a prepared canal for cast post and core - Remove gutta percha from a typodont tooth - Optimally cement a pre-fabricated metal post and core - Bond a fibre post to a root canal system and form a resin composite core
Bob Loney, BSc, DMD, MS Dr. Loney received a DMD from the University of Saskatchewan in 1983 and his MS in Prosthodontics from the University of Michigan in 1987. His Masters thesis was a photoelastic stress analysis of post and cores. He is currently Acting Chair, Department of Dental Clinic Sciences and Head of the Division of Removable Prosthodontics, Dalhousie University. His research was focused on dental implants, stress analysis and surface metrology of dental materials and prostheses including post and cores. Dr. Loney was a recipient of the W. W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education in 1992 and 2001 and the 3M-ESPE National Dentistry Teaching Award in 2003. He maintains a part-time practice limited to Prosthodontics in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Richard Price, DDS MS, FRCD(C), PhD Dr. Price received his DDS from Dalhousie`s Faculty of Dentistry. He completed his MS in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Michigan in 1984 and his PhD at the University of Malmo, Sweden in 2001. Dr. Price is the Division Head of Fixed Prosthodontics. He also works in the Faculty of practice limited to prosthodontics at Dalhousie University. Dr. Price is the inventor of the MARC system for teaching effective light curing and is actively involved in research on light curing and esthetic dentistry. Dr. Price was a recipient of the W. W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education in 2007. He has made numerous CDE presentations and has also authored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles.
