VIRTUAL WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:

Designed for the busy professional, this virtual workshop takes place on four Thursday afternoons. You will explore critical concepts in microbial fermentation, key elements of scale-up and their impact on parameters such as aeration, process control, and a downstream processing overview. The Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology (CoEIB) is gathering prominent faculty and industry professionals as course leaders. The goal is to provide you with the knowledge in fermentation to actively participate in the actions your company is taking every day.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Review batch, fed-batch, and continuous fermentation systems and respective kinetic models
Evaluate aeration and agitation and describe their impact on oxygen mass transfer rates
Discuss commonly used scale-up strategies
Describe the advances in high throughput fermentation processes
Summarize downstream purification strategies and discuss membrane processes
