Although the academy has come a long way in working towards equity and equality, multiple studies have revealed that an inherent gender bias still exists in the classroom. Whether intentional or not, this bias affects classroom interactions, student perceptions, and sometimes even course evaluations. In this session, we will explore various manifestations of this hidden bias and seek strategies to gently disrupt it—without creating student or colleague resistance—in order to create a safer and more positive learning environment for all.
