Financial Engineering for Innovation Clusters

Financial engineering can provide new solutions to fund clusters of innovative
projects. This presentation introduces a new model designed at MIT Sloan’s
Laboratory for Financial Engineering to finance the development of a pool of
preclinical and clinical drugs.
MIT Laboratory for Financial Engineering (LFE) is an MIT research center created as a partnership between academia and industry. The Laboratory and resulting research exist to tackle the challenging, complex problems of the day. Fernandez’s financial research focuses on the design of new models and
vehicles to finance scientific research for innovation, including the development
of social investment capital.
