The Global Nurse Education Program was developed in 1995. This program provides an opportunity for nurses throughout the world to visit MGH and consult with our expert nursing leaders and clinicians. The primary goals of the program are to improve global health care and to promote professional dialogue across cultures. An individualized learning curriculum is designed for each visitor to meet his or her learning objectives. Options for learning include clinical observation, leadership consultation and didactic lectures. MGH nursing consultants are also available for global healthcare in-country consultation projects.
Clinical observation programs for international clinicians are generally limited to one week. Visitors who desire longer periods of observation often like to combine their program at MGH with visits to other Boston hospitals.
Please note that while we welcome our international colleagues to visit and observe in clinical settings, we cannot offer hands-on training or allow you to provide care for patients. If you are interested in visiting MGH for clinical observation, please visit our Materials page to review the required paperwork and to access the necessary forms. Once you have reviewed the visitor guidelines and completed the required paperwork, click register to begin the application process. Additionally, we do ask an education fee for the visits which will depend upon the scope of the program. We can advise you of the fee after reviewing your application.
Please allow up to 6 weeks from the date you apply for your application to be reviewed.
