Handling the Unexpected Masterclass

Summary & Topics

Are you now feeling comfortable dealing with the day to day superannuation issues post the 1 July 2017 reforms?  Well, what about the not so common scenarios like terminal illness, losing capacity, divorce, moving overseas, bankruptcy/disqualification?  Luckily these are not issues facing our clients every day.  But when they do crop up, are you able to immediately allay some of your clients' fears and start working with them on solutions in a way that can help reduce their stress levels?

We touched on just two of these issues (incapacity and divorce) in our recent Heffron Super Intensive Days.  The feedback on these two topics revealed many practitioners would value a more specific focus on practicalities and problem solving.  This is exactly what we'll do in our Handling the Unexpected Masterclass.  We'll use real-life client scenarios to explore the issues and help you:

  • recognise common problem areas,
  • understand the consequences,
  • work out what information you'll need and how you'll use it,
  • develop a plan of attack to work through the problem, and
  • answer frequently asked questions.

If you came to our Super Intensive Day in 2018, this Masterclass is the perfect next step for you in dealing with these increasingly prevalent events.  Even if you didn't make it to our Intensive Days, this session is suitable for all SMSF professionals.  We will focus on the practical application of the rules as well as planning techniques to improve the outcome for future clients.

Heffron's SMSF Masterclasses are a unique opportunity to delve into the details of a particular SMSF topic or strategy with some of Australia's leading SMSF experts.

Spend half a day with us and a small group of fellow SMSF practitioners (numbers are strictly limited to 30 participants) working through case studies that capture the issues we have discovered in our work supporting accountants, financial advisers and trustees.  The intimate workshop style is a unique feature of our Masterclasses, as is our focus on practical solutions you can use immediately in your practice.

As a small business of busy practitioners, we understand the importance of value for money in SMSF training. Our sessions are always designed to maximise the value of your time out of the office – we receive consistent feedback that the material is well researched and presented by experts in SMSF.

Our Masterclasses are not exclusively for experts but we do assume participants have a solid level of SMSF knowledge to build on.  We’ll tackle the complex issues as well as filling in any gaps in the basics.  They would generally be inappropriate for anyone brand new to SMSFs but our presenters’ practical and approachable style means the sessions are invaluable for a wide range of practitioners.
