The Healthy Living Project (HLP) is designed to equip Ryan White Part A harm reduction providers with the knowledge, skills, and practical support they need to help HIV positive clients improve their physical, mental, and sexual health. The goal of this training is to increase providers' skills in using HLP to develop positive strategies for assisting clients in managing substance use, sexual risk behaviors, and treatment adherence.
The goals of the intervention include:
Training is based on the adult learning theory, including discussion and practice scenarios relevant to the work of the HIV harm reduction service providers.
The various training modules focus on the following:
HLP sessions have a standard structure and set of activities that are tailored to the individual client. Psycho-education, skill building exercises, and cognitive behavioral techniques are included in each session so the client can use these skills independently to effective meet challenges in their daily lives.
