General Information
Overview
The Mission to Care FHA HIIN is offering the first
Infection Prevention (IP) Boot Camp
of 2020 to participating HIIN hospitals to provide support in the professional development of
novice
infection preventionists.
The FHA HIIN IP Boot Camp for the Novice Infection Preventionist
was first offered in March 2018 and again in May 2019. Back by popular demand, FHA HIIN is pleased to be offering this free educational program on
Jan. 16-17, 2020, at the FHA Corporate Office in Orlando, Florida
. The purpose of this program is to provide fundamental knowledge and core competencies for those
NEW
to the infection prevention role (less than 2 years) and responsible for the implementation of infection prevention programs that drive a reduction in harms related to CAUTI, CLABSI, CDI, MRSA and SSI. The 2-day Boot Camp will be led by nationally recognized infection prevention expert Linda Greene, RN, MPS, CIC, FAPIC, and will include an overview of the role and competencies of the infection preventionist as it relates to understanding surveillance and epidemiology, antibiotic stewardship, regulatory and accreditation compliance and the development, implementation and evaluation of an infection prevention program.
Objectives
Understand the role of the infection preventionist
Describe the elements of an infection prevention program
Know requirements for accreditation and regulatory compliance
Be able to discuss the elements of an effective surveillance program
Review best practice strategies for the prevention of hospital-acquired infections
Review strategies for prevention of infection in the endoscopy suite
Describe the role of the infection preventionist in construction and renovation
Understand infection rate calculations and reporting data
Discuss the importance of antibiotic stewardship programs
Who Should Attend?
The program is designed to focus on fundamental knowledge and core competencies for current infection preventionists who are
new to their role (less than 2 years) in the hospital setting
or those interested in learning more about the role of infection prevention in the acute care setting.
Continuing Education
FHA is a provider of nursing education approved by the Florida Board of Nursing under Provider No. NCE2972. Licensed Florida nurses will receive a certificate of attendance for 11.0 hours of continuing nursing education.
