PLEASE NOTE THE PROGRAM CHANGE
You just went through a reduction in force and this has disrupted the work place. With more emphasis being placed on doing more with less, how did you plan for this change? Any variances between expectations and reality? What was the communication strategy? What is the plan for the company to engage employees who remain? How will the Talent Acquisition department recruit new candidates when staff reduction occurs and candidates ask about the recent reduction?
How a company prepares for a significant change such as example given above will be the focus of the Strategic HR luncheon being held at Ivy Technical Institute Thursday, November 17, 2016. How a company differentiates itself from competitors will be explored. Employer branding best practices will be shared. In addition, Susan Martin and Helena Masters will share marketing strategies to create differentiation through culture, beliefs, and values and how this will influence and engage employees who are committed to the company.
Helena has over 25 years multi-site human resources leadership experience in not-for-profit and for-profit companies. She is a results-oriented professional who embraces change and has led others to achieve business objectives. She has directed HR practices and strategies and coached and advised employees at multiple levels.
Previously held roles include HR Partner at ITT Educational Services, Adjunct Professor at DeVry University, Regional HR Manager at ARAMARK Correctional Services, and Development and Compensation Manager at AAA Hoosier Motor Club.
Helena obtained her MS degree in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and her BS degree from Purdue University majoring in Supervision. Certifications include SHRM-SCP, SPHR, and is currently pursuing Lean Six Sigma green belt.
Helena has been a member of IndyShrm and SHRM since 1991. She is a former IndyShrm Board member who served as VP Membership and VP Programs. Since the closing of ITT Educational Services, Helena has been active sharing employment opportunities to former employees of ITT Technical Institute, volunteering in the role of Kairos Financial Secretary, and spending time with family.
I am a professional, goal-oriented and creative individual. I strive to provide my best work and attention for and to my employer, businesses relationships, friends and family. Strategic problem solving is one of my best strengths, along with the desire to be pro-active, efficient and accurate. My nature is fun-loving and quick to see the humorous side of life.

Heather Hoffman is the Vice President of Digital Strategy at DirectEmployers Association. With enthusiasm, honesty and 13+ years of experience in talent acquisition, Heather leads a department of skilled Digital Strategists and Creative Consultants which oversee the implementation, promotion and education that surround the Association’s recruitment marketing solutions utilized by over 800 of DirectEmployer Association Member Companies.
As a former business owner, Heather prides herself on her exceptional listening skills, taking the Member feedback she receives and translating it into additional features and actionable opportunities for the Association. Prior to joining DirectEmployers, Heather gained in-depth professional experiences revolved around entrepreneurship, direct and temporary placement. She has a range of accomplishments from building a successful small business model to managing multiple branches, sales teams, recruiters, and responding to the needs of 300+ clients within various industries such as light industrial, manufacturing, clerical, professional, and IT.
These experiences have equipped her to understand employer’s challenges face with online recruitment and talent acquisition. Heather is passionate and dedicated to creating Member-driven products that combine unique digital strategies aligned with creativity and innovation practices. Heather holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer and Family Sciences from Purdue University. Outside of the office, Heather can be found spending time with her family, which include her husband, son, and daughter.
