Paper submission

Paper submissions should be in the form of an extended abstract, with a minimum of 2 pages (excluding pictures) and maximum 4 pages in total. They should include sufficient information for a good understanding of the proposed paper. Brief summaries of papers will not be accepted. 

Abstracts will be judged against the following criteria:

  1. Originality
  2. Scientific quality
  3. Relevance to symposium themes
  4. Professional/industrial relevance
  5. Acknowledgement of the work of others, relevant for the paper
  6. Organization of the intended paper
  7. Clarity in writing, tables, graphs and illustrations
  8. Overall evaluation

Abstracts with the highest scores will be added to a shortlist for a best paper award, to be decided upon during the symposium, with also the paper and the presentation being taken into account.

In the abstract submission, you are requested to indicate explicitly:

  • exactly one of the thirteen sub themes  
  • exactly one of the three orientations (i.e. Policies and Vision, Technical Research, or Sharing Practical Experiences).

The abstract (and the paper) should be written in English.

An extended abstract should follow the template, which can be found here, and include the following sections:

  1. Introduction plus at least three keywords
  2. Objectives
  3. Research approach
  4. Expected results
  5. Conclusions and discussion
  6. References 

All abstracts should be submitted on-line in pdf.
