CCIFMA members are invited to the IAMFA Fall Meeting on October 25 at the National Gallery of Art for a presentation on Integrated Pest Management.A successful pest management strategy is one that provides the greatest opportunity for the effective detection and management of pests regardless of the type of object being protected. Museums are now developing and implementing targeted Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, not just for the art objects, but with special attention focused on an institution's administrative facilities, food service areas, horticulture departments and storage warehouses. Each of these areas present challenging pest issues including regular monitoring, increased risk due to location and materials, and efficient means of control. Scientifically based IPM programs constitute a holistic approach to pest management. Strong IPM programs are forever evolving as new technologies, improved control options, and information becomes available. This event is free and open to 40 CCIFMA members. The 30% employee discount will be offered to attendees wishing to get lunch in the museum cafeteria.
