This IDC and Symantec Executive Dinner and Discussion will gather a select group of your peers to discuss, around interactive roundtables, the key issues, trends and experiences in meeting – and exceeding – the compliance requirements of GDPR.
GDPR represents the biggest shake-up in data protection and privacy law in three decades. It introduces new processes and considerations for almost all organisations in the EU – and those that do business with the EU. With the clock ticking towards May 2018 many organisations are still unclear as to the impact of GDPR on their organisations, resulting in a mindset that is focusing on the minimum effort necessary to achieve compliance.
Organisations that take this approach are missing the opportunity of a lifetime. GDPR creates an environment in which organisations are encouraged to put risk, privacy and security considerations at the heart of their business processes. For example, ‘data protection by design and by default’ compels organisations to consider data risk requirements as new business processes are conceived, not as an after-thought. And organisations must now take into account ‘state of the art’ in defining security capabilities to protect personal data, which begs the question: do you know what state of the art means, and how does this affect your security estate and architecture?
If you could re-imagine security, to embed data risk principles at the heart of your organisation, how would you do it differently?
At this dinner we will have an umbrella theme of GDPR, but avoiding the fear, uncertainty and doubt. Our CIO and CISO guests will be encouraged to debate the challenges of GDPR compliance while delivering digital transformation and keeping the organisation secure.
There are three key questions that we will ask to prompt the discussion:
• What impact is GDPR having on your organisations, which stakeholders are involved, and how is GDPR generally perceived?
• What does ‘state of the art’ mean to your organisation, who decides, how do you measure it, and is your definition defensible?
• How can your organisation grasp the opportunity arising from GDPR to re-imagine and re-architect security?
This evening session will provide you with a great chance to discuss these key challenges with your peers in a relaxed setting. We hope you can join us! There are a limited number of complimentary seats available so please register your interest as soon as possible.
