Education is undergoing exponential change. Educators, leaders, parents, and community members are engaged in creating new standards and curriculum for today’s learners. All curricula from K-12 is being re-designed and implemented over the next six years to reflect principles grounded with a student-centred direction from the Guiding Framework. Further, the Teaching Quality Standard, along with the School Leader Standard and School Authority Leader Standard have been created to reflect the reality of contemporary educational contexts in a knowledge society. In Alberta, we are in design mode, building on past successes and engaging in continuous improvement.
The mandate of the conference is to improve on IDEAS through research, evidence-informed decisions across teaching, learning and leadership. The conference brings together Innovators, Designers, Educators, Academics and Students (IDEAS) from K-12, post-secondary and government to rise to the challenge of designing for today’s new learning landscape.
Engaging in IDEAS is about innovative teaching and leading practices that support intellectual engagement of learners and educators. Coming together to study learning, teaching and assessment in dynamic relationships, we design new practice, new knowledge and new research questions. This conference is creating opportunities for research to inform practice and practice to inform research.
Research and practice is shared through the following conference streams:
The double-blind peer-reviewed proceedings for the conference will be published online. Proceedings from previous years may be found on our archive page.
