Kristen Albright, FCAS, MAAAVice President–Claims Analytics, The Hanover Insurance GroupKristen joined The Hanover Insurance Group in 2007, where she has held a variety of leadership roles in Actuarial, Underwriting and Product Development. In 2011, she moved into the Claim organization as Vice President, Claims Analytics, where she is responsible for driving Hanover’s Claims data strategy and leveraging data and analytics to support improved Claim effectiveness and to provide deeper insights into loss drivers and trends. She has spent 25+ years in the insurance industry, in various roles in Actuarial and Underwriting. Kristen is a graduate of the University of Illinois, a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.Tony AlmeidaPrincipal, Insurance Services, CapgeminiTony is a seasoned Information Management/Analytics executive with a twenty year track record of delivering services to global clients in multiple industries. Adept at creating go-to-market strategies and developing action plans to align business goals of multi-billion dollar global corporations, Tony has led the innovative efforts to launch and deliver Predictive Analytics solutions in multiple industries since 2005. Tony currently leads Capgemini’s insurance services solutions in North America, which is responsible for the delivery of insurance transformational capabilities and go-to-market analytics solutions. Tony received a BS in Computer Engineering and a BA in Economics, both from the University of Michigan.Nancy Allen, ACASHead of Finance Operations Data Management, XL CatlinNancy has more than thirty years of experience within the insurance industry. She attained her ACAS designation and spent the first eighteen years of her career in various actuarial disciplines including pricing, hurricane modelling, planning, and reserving. Nancy’s niche was in rates and rating structure integrations from product launches and system consolidations. She expanded the breadth of this niche by formally shifting into the data world in 2003. Over her career, Nancy has been involved in more than thirty five system integrations and new system rollouts due to M&A activity, major product changes, and transformation projects. She’s led a variety of data related departments and cross-functional initiatives including data governance, data quality, MDM, data modelling, information lifecycle management, internal reporting, statistical reporting, data warehousing, data security, and data privacy. Nancy is an experienced Information Privacy and System Security Officer and holds both CIPP/US and CISSP designations. Outside the actuarial and data disciplines, Nancy has also led diverse teams including product development, PMO and project managers, agency management, and claims business support. She is currently working at XL Catlin as Head of Finance Operations Data Management.
Mike ByamChief Data Officer, The HartfordMike is Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., a role he assumed in September 2015. In his role Mike has responsibility for defining, implementing, and governing the corporation’s data strategy. He manages a team of approximately 250 employees and 100 offshore resources. Mike has over twenty years’ experience leading Business and Technology teams and initiatives. Prior to assuming his current position, he was named CIO of Commercial Markets in 2012, CIO for the Wealth Management division in 2010 and led Corporate Systems and Business Resilience Office from 2006. He has held various leadership roles within the Property & Casualty business, including Web Development lead, IT Outsourcing Strategy, and segment IT executive leadership positions in Commercial and Personal Lines. Mike joined The Hartford in 1996 from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he worked as a software engineer. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from Providence College, MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Project Management certification from George Washington.
Laura CadmusData Management Manager, CNALaura is a Data Management Manager in the Claim Finance and Operations division at CNA Insurance in Chicago, Illinois. She is responsible for claim data management and quality for unbundled accounts (insureds utilizing a Third Party Administrator for handling of their claims). Laura has been with CNA for 14 years, and has worked in the insurance industry for 18 years. Prior to CNA, Laura worked at Fireman’s Fund and Liberty Mutual. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, with minors in Statistics and Economics, from Keene State College in Keene, NH.
Tony CidGlobal Head of Commercial, Intellect SEECTony is responsible for go-to-market strategy for P&C Insurance products at Intellect SEEC. He has extensive experience in P&C Insurance with global insurers. Prior to Intellect, Tony was a Principal at Fourth Insight and before that he was senior leader at QBE Insurance and CNA. Tony has written articles for industry publications include PropertyCasualty360.com and as a blogger on our own website, www.intellectseec.com. He has also presented at several industry conferences in 2016 includes CPCU Society Annual Meeting, FCBI Insurance Analytics Canada.Kevin ClaybornPrincipal Consultant, Clarity Solution GroupKevin is an executive leader with over fifteen years of experience in the Insurance Industry. He’s had prominent roles in Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Finance, and Data & Analytics. Kevin is currently a Principal at Clarity Solution Group, aligned to the Financial Services and Insurance practice. He is an expert at developing customer-centric strategies, performance measures, micro-segments, and CRM solutions through the use of Big Data and advanced analytics. Kevin has a proven track record of turning insights into billion-dollar revenue streams, and delivering the next generation of customer experience solutions. Prior to joining Clarity, Kevin spent several years at Nationwide Insurance as a Delivery Executive responsible for all enterprise customer information and interaction data. Before Nationwide, Kevin led some of the most strategic and advanced analytics teams at USAA. The solutions he devised with his teams were some of the most cutting-edge in the industry – even today. Kevin earned two undergraduate degrees from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Boston University. Pamela CytronFounder and Chief Executive Officer, Pendo Systems, Inc.Pamela has more than thirty years of financial services technology industry experience includes successfully growing companies from start-up to operational efficiencies while consistently increasing revenue. Her special expertise includes a clear vision of tracking technologies used to serve the financial services industry, and developing innovative strategies to meet the industry’s demands while keeping her focus on providing the ultimate customer experience. Pamela launched her current company, Pendo Systems, Inc., a New Jersey-based financial technology company in 2008. Pendo provides technology for the global capital markets industry, specifically focused on industrializing valuable investment data. After receiving many accolades for her products, company, team, and herself; Pamela was recently named “Game Charger of the Year” and Pendo was named one the 20 most promising companies in Capital Markets Technology. She was nominated to participate in Fortune’s Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs. Pendo is a two (2) time winner of SWIFT’s Innotribe Top Innovator Award. Pamela has held senior management roles at SunGard, DST, BlackRock, Netik, and Princeton Financial.Sheila EmbreeLead Data Governance Analyst, Amica MutualSheila is the Lead Data Governance Analyst for Amica Mutual Insurance. She first became interested in data and analytics at Wellesley College, where she graduated with a degree in Economics in 1990. She has significant insurance industry experience, having worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) for twenty years. Sheila had various data and analytics roles at BCBSRI, but her favorite role was in Data Governance. Her first Data Governance engagement was there and she brought those talents with her to Amica. Sheila and her team members continue to evolve the maturity of Amica’s Data Governance program.Nora FitzGerald, FIDMVice President, Bureau Reporting and Data Quality, CNANora is Vice President, Data Reporting, in the Corporate Actuarial division at CNA in Chicago, Illinois. She is responsible for statistical reporting to states, Boards and Bureaus as well as for the integration of data standards and data quality. She has held responsibility for the Data Management area and has served as Chairperson of the Data Governance Committee. Nora is a member of the IDMA Board of Directors and Past President of the association. Nora has been with CNA for more than fifteen years, and has worked in the insurance industry for over twenty five years. Nora holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and a Master’s Degree from Fordham University. She also has received the FIDM designation (Fellow in Insurance Data Management) from IDMA.Leanne FleckVice President, Carrier, TPA & Alternative Risk Financing, Marsh ClearSightLeanne has over twenty years of experience in the insurance technology industry. She is currently Vice President at Marsh ClearSight within the Insurance Carrier/TPA & Alternative Risk Financing Practice. Within that vertical Leanne is responsible for assisting ClearSight clients, prospects, and business partners to execute upon their strategic and financial goals by leveraging the efficiency and cost saving methods of Marsh ClearSight insurance technology and services.Andrew GoldbergChief Data Officer, Kemper Jeff GorballManaging Director, Kingland Systems CorporationJeff is currently a Managing Director at Kingland Systems Corporation, responsible for the consulting practice around data management maturity (DMM) supporting Kingland's clients. Jeff introduced the concept of a data management maturity model to the strategic partnership that ultimately developed the DMM Model. He has been on the DMM working group since its inception, becoming the first non-CMMI Institute member to obtain accreditation on the Model by the CMMI Institute (steward of the DMM Model) to consult on and conduct workshops on the Model. Jeff is also certified on the Enterprise Data Management Council's Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM), the first person in the world for that dual certification, and a Certified DCAM Instructor. Jeff also serves as the company’s chief security officer and has been responsible for company-wide improvements in the area of process management across all business units, driving Kingland’s CMMI maturity ratings and process improvement. Susan Haney, CPCUAssistant Vice President, Amica Mutual Susan is Assistant Vice President in IT at Amica Mutual Insurance Company. Sue is responsible for the Customer Services area of the IT department, which includes the Data Governance team, web development (web site and mobile app), and the customer management team and is also the IT Sponsor for Amica’s Salesforce program. Sue graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Providence College. She is a member of the Board of Directors of IDMA and has earned designation as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) from The Institutes.Edward Kevin HartPrincipal, Global Insights & Data Business Solutions, CapgeminiMr. Hart is a recent addition to Capgemini's insurance team. He is a highly experienced insurance operatin executive leading global multi-line insurers, reinsurers and insurance services enterprise. Leadership accountability has included CEO, CFO, CCO, Chief Actuarial Executive, and a member of several Board of Directors. Mr. Hart's operating, market and financial global multi-insurance leadership brings outstanding history achieving, through data and technology enabled solutions, sustained underwriting profitability, reduced loss expense, enhanced operating effectiveness, outstanding achievement in AML/counter fraud, and in exceeding regulatory, rating agency, compliance and stakeholder expectations. Mike HofertDirector of Solution Development–Insurance, Pitney Bowes SoftwareMike believes that decisions should be made by the people with the best data, not the loudest voices. He spent the last quarter of a century working at analytics software companies putting that theory into practice. The last half of that tenure has been working with health and P&C insurers, most recently as the managing director of insurance solutions at Pitney Bowes. When not thinking about data – OK, who are we kidding, he thinks about data all the time. He’s managed to remain married in spite of that fact, however, and currently resides in Michigan with his wife Lysa.Janine JosephSr. Director of Data Management, TravelersJanine has more than twenty five years of Data Management experience in Insurance, Pharmacy Benefit Management and Retail. She has worked to build enterprise Data Governance, Meta Data and Data Quality disciplines. In 2007 she won the Wilshire/DAMA award for Meta Data Management and has presented on these topics around the country and in Europe. She is current member of the IDMA Board of Directors as well as other non-profit organizations. Janine has spent her career working in both the business and technical tracks of various companies and always strives for a holistic, enterprise approach that satisfies the needs of both sides of the organization. Peter Marotta, AIDM, FIDMVice President of Emerging Data Management Issues, IDMAPete is the current Vice President of Emerging Data Management Issues at IDMA and a member of the IDMA Executive Committee and Board of Directors. He is also a founding member and Past President of association. Pete retired from Verisk Analytics in late 2015 where he lead Verisk’s enterprise data management activities focused on documenting data assets and intellectual property, exploring new methods for acquiring new and different data, supporting business unit plans, providing a secure environment for research and development, and defining Verisk’s enterprise data strategies. Pete received certification as an Associate Insurance Data Manager (AIDM) from IDMA. He is the recipient of IDMA’s 2006 Gary W. Knoble Service Award and IDMA’s Board of Directors has elected him a Fellow in Insurance Data Management (FIDM). For the first fourteen years, she worked as a data steward within the Finance unit of America Family. In 2014, she made a switch from Finance over to Information Systems into the Information Quality unit. Sarah is an advocate for data quality within the organization, working with other divisions to identify executive critical data elements and written business rules. Amit NagpalFinance Operations - Data Governance and Master Data Management Lead, XL CatlinAmit earned a BS degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, India. He holds multiple technical and business certifications including Business Objects, Teradata, SAS, Green Belt Six Sigma, BFSI (Banking, Finance & Insurance Domain Certification) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). He began his career as a consultant with GE. He worked as a GE Health Care consultant as well as a Team Lead for GE Asset Intelligence and GE Rail Services where he and his team won numerous awards for excellent service and execution. Amit is currently working at XL Catlin in Finance Operations. He has been involved with the Enterprise Enablement project since its start in 2012, first in a technical capacity as the MDM and ETL Lead Developer and most recently with a business focus as Finance Operations - Data Governance and Master Data Management Lead. Kevin O’Leary, AIDM, FIDM2nd Vice President, Claims BI and Analytics Data Management, Travelers Insurance Kevin is the 2nd Vice President, Claim Business Intelligence and Analytics Data Management at Travelers. He is currently accountable for the continued build out of Claim and Travelers’ Strategic Data Environments and Data Management Best Practices that includes Data Analytics, Quality, Security, Reference Data, Big Data, and 3rd Party Data Management. Kevin has been instrumental in the establishment of Travelers Data Standards and the evolution of Travelers Data Management people, processes and technologies. Prior to joining Travelers in 2008, he was with The Hartford for over twenty five years working in various roles within IT, Project Management, Enterprise Strategies, Direct Mail Marketing and Data Warehousing. Kevin received certification as an Associate Insurance Data Manager (AIDM) from IDMA in 2013, and IDMA’s Board of Directors has elected him a Fellow in Insurance Data Management (FIDM) in 2016. Peter has 20+ years of experience in data matters, having lead Data Architecture, Delivery, Metadata, Business Intelligence and Analytics teams at various financial organizations during that time.
Shani OultonDirector of Data Services, NCCIShani is NCCI’s Director of Data Services. The department she leads has primary responsibility for communicating industry changes resulting from legislation, statistical plan, standards, data collection efforts and/or data tool enhancements along with associated training. Her functions also include involvement and leadership roles in various data-related industry forums including, but not limited to, holding the Chair position on NCCI’s Data Collection Procedures (DCP) Subcommittee. Shani is also the manager of NCCI’s annual Data Educational Program where beginners to novice data reporters come to learn the latest on reporting rules, tools, manuals, circulars, and navigating efficiently through the website. Shani joined NCCI in 2003 and has held numerous positions throughout the organization with a foundation in regulatory and now primarily focused on data services. She has presented at numerous industry conferences and meetings with original material based on practical experience. Shani graduated from The University of Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. She also currently holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from The Institutes.Jason Panicker, AIDM Senior Business Analyst, Strategic Data Operations, ISO Jason is a team leader for Statistical Web Services (SWS), ISO’s online application for the reporting and management of statistical data submissions. Jason is been responsible for initiatives to improve data quality, data management and user experience. Jason’s efforts assure that ISO’s data processing systems are able to support the needs of insurers and regulatory agencies for the property-casualty insurance industry. His focus has been to provide meaningful analytics, distributions, and visualizations to better identify and correct data issues and inconsistencies. Jason has a BA in Economics and Psychology from Rutgers University and a certification as a Compliance and Regulatory Professional (CCRP) from Pace’s Lubin School of Business. He earned the designation of Associate Insurance Data Manager (AIDM) and is a member the IDMA Education Committee.
Sandi Perillo-Simmons, AIDMDirector and Data Governance Lead, The HartfordSandi has over twenty five years of experience as director, program/project/team leader, technical analyst, and software developer for insurance carriers and vendors. Sandi’s primary focus has been insurance data management and integration and conversion of insurance data. As the current Enterprise Data Governance Lead for The Hartford organization, Sandi works with her team to promote and drive the management of data as a business asset. She also partner with business and IT leaders to establish, implement, and enforce enterprise-wide data management standards, processes, and best practices. She is the currently Chair of the ACORD Standards Committee, which is responsible for oversight and development of insurance industry standards worldwide. Sandi Holds the ACE designation from ACORD and the AIDM designation from the IDMA. She also holds an Executive MBA, University of Connecticut and B.S. in Computer Science/Math from the University of Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut.Seth Rachlin, PhDVice President, Insurance, CapgeminiDr. Rachlin has twenty-five years experience building and advising companies in the insurance, technology and business services sectors. He has extensive experience as a consultant to over fifty Fortune 500 and middle market insurance companies in both the Life and Annuity and Property and Casualty businesses. Seth is currently Vice President and Portfolio Executive within Capgemini’s Insurance Business Unit. In this role, he is responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s relationships with P&C clients in the Central Region and Canada including direct oversight of two significant core system replacement initiatives. He is also active in practice development surrounding Capgemini solutions, which support underwriting and product management transformation and predictive analytics. Seth holds an undergraduate degree in History from Princeton University, a Ph.D. in Sociology from Columbia University, and has published widely in academic, technical, and popular journals.Jay RajendraChief Analytics Officer, Arch GroupJay recently joined Arch Group as the Chief Analytics officer where he is leading a growing Strategic Analytics team at Arch that is responsible to combine innovative analytics with strategy to improve profitability and growth. Previous to Arch, he was the Vice President of Strategic Analytics and Head of Business Solution for XL Catlin where he lead transformative analytics projects that significantly improve profitability and growth. Jay’s role focuses on analytics-driven innovation, strategy and change management. Prior to XL Catlin, Jay spent his career consulting to many of the world’s leading (re)insurers on analytics, pricing strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. He has worked with both established multinationals and innovative start-ups across Europe, North America and the Middle East. Jay has an MBA from MIT and a bachelors and masters degree in mathematics from Oxford University. He is also a qualified actuary in both the UK and the U.S. Erik RoenSenior Vice President Claim Business Intelligence & Analytics, TravelersErik is Senior Vice President of Business Intelligence and Analytics for Travelers Insurance. He has overall accountability for the business intelligence and analytic strategies within the Claim and Risk Control organizations and Executive Lead of Travelers-wide data strategies including Big Data and Third Party data. Prior to his current role, Erik served as Vice President of Business Intelligence supporting over $7.0 billion of premium within Business Insurance across ten business segments. He also served as Chief Financial Officer for Risk Control for five years and was responsible for establishing the analytics department focused on more effectively leveraging Travelers internal data for risk selection and pricing decisions. Erik joined Travelers Companies in 1998 and has held various management positions in Construction Insurance, Risk Control, Corporate Finance, and Personal Insurance.Nate Root, FCASNate Root, Vice President—Insurance Services, CapgeminiNate joined Capgemini in November of 2016 as Vice President in Capgemini's Insurance Services Unit. Prior to joining Capgemini, Nate was a Senior Vice President at CNA responsible for CNA’s data and information governance, enterprise data warehouse, standard reporting, general ledger, and information strategy. Nate also had execution responsibility for CNA's Underwriting Transformation and was a member of the overall prioritization and governance executive team for the transformation. Nate has been with CNA for over twenty years in a variety of roles across actuarial, finance, and information technology. He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Grinnell College and a Masters degree in mathematics from University of Michigan. He is responsible for thought leadership and marketing content for applying analytics within the insurance industry. Stuart began his career as an Actuary, and now has over twenty five years experience in the insurance industry. Prior to working for Guidewire, Stuart spent nine years at SAS leading their Insurance Analytics Practice. In addition, he has worked for a leading global insurance company in both their Life and Property and Casualty divisions. Stuart is a regular contributor to insurance publications and the Analytic Insurer blog. He frequently speaks at insurance conferences and is co-author of the book “Executive Guide to Solvency II”. He graduated from Sheffield University with a BSc in Mathematical StudiesPat Saporito, CPCU, FIDMSenior Director, Analytics Center of Excellence, SAPPat’s role at SAP’s Analytics Center of Excellence is to help customers improve business performances through data and analytics. She also manages SAP’s analytics strategy program which helps companies assess and mature their analytic strategy. She has authored several articles on the topics of data management, data governance, and stewardship. Tracy graduated with a bachelor of science in management information systems from Excelsior College and a master of science in organizational leadership from Quinnipiac University. She has earned designations as a Fellow of Insurance Data Management Association (FIDM), a Charter Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), and a Certified Insurance Data Manager (CIDM).Maria SnowData Operations Executive, NCCIMaria is NCCI’s Data Operations Executive, with leadership over NCCI’s data collection, validation, and compliance functions. The departments she leads have primary responsibility for making data available for use in all of NCCI products and services. Her functions include the development and maintenance of NCCI’s data compliance programs as well as data provider technical support. Maria is the business owner of NCCI’s data reporting tools – including responsibility for the deployment of new and enhanced customer-facing data reporting options. Maria joined NCCI in 1995 and has held numerous management positions in the organization primarily focused on data management. Before joining NCCI, Maria worked for Aetna Property and Casualty as a Technical Data Analyst in Actuarial Information Support and as a Data Analyst at Commonwealth Land Title Insurance. Maria is a seasoned speaker/presenter to both technical and executive audiences. She has presented at numerous industry conferences and meetings with original material based on practical experience. As CIO, he is responsible for oversight of all technology, application development, and the Program Management Office. The Information Technology division provides a robust infrastructure for housing the nation’s largest repository of workers compensation information as well as vast suite of custom-built applications to support NCCI’s unique role in the industry. In his role as CDO, Michael oversees NCCI's data collection, quality validation, coordination with industry groups on data reporting rules and standards, and the deployment of reporting tools for data providers. During his career at NCCI, Michael has held a variety of management positions within the areas of Information Technology, Business Development, Product Management, Experience Rating, Customer Service, and Assigned Risk. Before coming to NCCI, he applied his expertise in information technology in the education sector. Michael is the incoming Chair of the Board of Directors for the IDMA. He has been awarded the Fellow of Insurance Data Management Association (FIDM) from IDMA in 2016 for his contributions to data management profession. Michael received a BBA in Computer Information Systems and an MBA, both from the University of Miami. Rich YociusVice President, Actuarial Services and Chief ActuaryRich is Vice President of Actuarial Services and Chief Actuary of the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS), an advisory organization that provides policy forms, rating information, and automation support used by more than 700 property/casualty insurers. He currently leads the Actuarial Services and Data Engineering teams. In that role, he is responsible for developing strategies to maintain loss costs and other rating information for all lines of business. He is also responsible for expanding AAIS’s actuarial and analytical capabilities, improving the quality of the actuarial work product, and monitoring and improving the efficiency and auditability of AAIS’s growing data resources. As part of this role, he works with current and prospective affiliates to increase the quantity, quality and refinement of the data pool used to develop loss costs and rating information. He also evaluates market opportunities for new and enhanced product offerings. Rich has more than thirty years of experience in various actuarial and product management roles, including positions at Allstate, Nationwide, and Tower Group. Rich earned a BS in mathematics and economics from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
