IEPs Based on the Essential Elements
The DLM Essential Elements for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities were developed at each grade level, K-12, in areas of ELA, Math and Science. The Essential Elements are specific statements of knowledge and skills linked to grade-level academic content standards that yield student achievement and prepare students with the most significant cognitive disabilities for college and career readiness. Participants will gain a greater understanding of Essential Elements (EEs) in ELA, Mathematics, and Science.
This session will focus on the process of writing SMART annual goals and the short-term objectives and benchmarks that are linked to the Essential Elements. This module is based on the principles and learning objectives of the DESE trainings for developing a Standard-Based IEP.
