The IEA-ETS Research Institute (IERI) is organizing a four-day Spring Academy on conducting analysis using international large scale assessment databases. Databases supported include IEA’s TIMSS, PIRLS, and ICCS, as well as OECD’s PISA. The general day to day schedule will consist of a mixture of presentations and hands-on practical assignments.
Participants are expected to have knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, and bring their own laptop computer with SPSS 15.0 or higher installed. Demonstration versions of the software for the hands-on training will be distributed to the participants during the Academy. SPSS is required for this software to work. Additional training will be conducted on using the International Data Explorer.
The goal of the Academy is to:
- Familiarize participants with the statistical complexities involved in using international large scale assessment databases
- Familiarize participants with the hierarchical data structure of these international large scale assessment databases
- Familiarize participants with software currently available to take into account statistical and data complexities of these international large scale assessment databases
- Prepare the users to take into account the statistical complexities and complex data structure when using the databases with commercially available software.
Participation will be limited to the first 25 registrants. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. A list with hotels, course requirements and final agenda will be sent to you upon receipt of your registration and payment.
