IHS MARKIT Oil and Gas Digitalization Workshop, London

This event brings together IHS Markit experts and member company representatives to explore three topics of timely and strategic interest from the Autumn 2017 research cycle:

  • Digitalizing the organization, impact on upstream. As E&P firms promote digitalization strategies at the very highest levels of their organizations, IHS Markit analyzes what this means for the application of advancing technologies, how expanding parts of the organizations will become more fully integrated, and the resulting impacts on key upstream functional activities (e.g., supply chain and logistics, field development, commercial).
  • Digitalizing well construction. With ongoing improvements in well construction so critical to the future of a range of oil and gas resources (e.g., deep water, unconventionals), IHS Markit explores a set of key digitalization opportunity areas (automation, advanced tools, remote support, subsurface integration), assesses industry progress and best practices, and highlights both realized and potential efficiency and productivity gains on the order of 25–50%.
  • Shallow-water gas industry case study. An independent E&P firm transformed how it manages a network of shallow-water gas platforms—shifting toward a not–normally manned operating model by remotely controlling the offshore platforms and adopting more predictive maintenance practices. IHS Markit explores what technologies enabled this new approach, the organizational and technical challenges overcome, and the cost reduction and productivity benefits achieved.
