This course will inform participants of the OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control in dentistry.  Environmental asepsis, instrument processing and recirculation, dental waterline maintenance, hand hygiene, selection of personal protective equipment, and hints for improving program efficiency are some of the topics that will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Become familiar with bloodborne pathogens and CDC guidelines
  • Know how to identify HBV, HAV, HCV, HIV, TB
  • Understand the infectious disease process and standard precautions
  • Learn how to maximize your infection control practices
  • Understand engineering controls, work practice controls and exposure control protocol
  • Review sterilization and biological monitoring/disinfection and barrier technique
