Infection Control: Workshop for Annual Review

Speaker:  Claudia D. Gauthier, CDA, health and safety consultant, director, Essential Educational Services, ADAA first district trustee and chair, ADAA council on education

Dental personnel must update their infection control skills annually and this seminar meets the requirement. It covers bloodborne pathogen guidelines, standard operating procedures, vaccine recommendations and environmental infection control and operatory processing. It will review how to work on patients when the town water is compromised, the difference between West Nile Virus and Triple E, and how to place autoclave bags. Be prepared to demonstrate skills that are so important for ourselves and our patients’ safety and protection.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand most current CDC guidelines and recommendations
  • Review personal protective equipment and surface barriers
  • Practice instrument processing and review environmental infection control
  • Discuss emerging infections and our role in dentistry
  • Review vaccine recommendations
  • Know the bloodborne pathogen recommendations
