The symposium is intended to meet the educational needs of radiation therapists, medical dosimetrists and medical physicists, students in all of these fields, and radiation oncology and medical physics residents.
The symposium will be taught by national experts and will provide a balanced, multidisciplinary review, discussion and hands-on lab exercises on the state of radiotherapy immobilization and patient setup. It will address specific clinical treatment sites/modalities, including breast, head and neck, stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiotherapy. To provide an in-depth review, the symposium will include didactic sessions delivered by radiation oncologists, medical dosimetrists, medical physicists and radiation therapists.

The symposium organizers plan to seek up to 16 credits from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) and the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP).

The symposium will include a session for participants to present innovative solutions, ideas and workflows in patient immobilization and patient setup. Authors of accepted abstracts may be selected to give an oral presentation or display a poster.
