Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - Services and Support Through the Lifespan

Program Overview

The URMC Social Work Professional Development Committee is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Social Work Conference, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - Services and Support through the Lifespan, to be held Friday, October 25, 2019 at Larry and Cindy Bloch Alumni and Advancement Center.

The conference will address the unique joys and challenges of working with people who are diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and will focus on diagnosis, service enrollment and resources through the lifespan.  We will have a wide range of speakers from interdisciplinary teams providing their expertise on both community and hospital based services.  In addition to the various speakers, there will also be an opportunity for attendees to speak with representatives from a variety of community agencies.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Increase their knowledge of the varied resources available to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families
  • Be better equipped to meet the special needs of children and adults with IDD
  • Be able to recognize the barriers to accessing mental health, education and legal resources faced by people with IDD and their families
