Introducing Mental Health First Aid: Diminishing Stigma (H) new!

There is a social stigma around mental illness and what it really is. How mental illness affects residents varies from person to person and illness to illness. Many mental illnesses can get in the way of how people function in their daily lives, which includes how they maintain their housing. Participants will work through a few case studies to help better understand the importance of having empathy for their residents and the challenges they face daily. They will be introduced to the basic tools of mental health first aid and learn risk factors and warning signs to help them identify, understand and respond to residents in need, while diminishing stigma. This course fulfills the HUD RSC training requirement under the subject area – Mental Health Issues.
