Pre Conference Workshop

Radiation Effects under Extreme Conditions
The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia
26-28 October, 2016

Workshop Content

This workshop will focus on radiation effects in materials under extreme conditions, including extremes of nuclear and electronic energy-loss; ion-flux; ion-fluence; temperature; pressure; and target geometry (e.g. nanostructures, high aspect-ratio features).  The workshop will be held at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia and will be limited around 30 participants.

Topics will include:

  • Theory, simulation and modelling of radiation effects under extreme conditions
  • Interaction of swift heavy ions with matter
  • Materials performance in intense plasmas environments
  • Materials for fission, fusion and waste immobilisation
  • Irradiation of materials with complex geometries (e.g. nanostructures, trenches)
  • Advanced characterisation techniques (e.g. SAXS; in-situ analysis)

Organisers:

Rob Elliman, ANU
Patrick Kluth, ANU
Cormac Corr, ANU
