Why Attend?

Would you like to update your knowledge of practical radiation protection?
Are you interested in ensuring that you can confidently contribute to an IR(ME)R inspection?
Are you a radiology/nuclear medicine services manager with keen staff who need an update?

If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions then this study day is for you or your staff.

The day is aimed at staff who work in radiology/nuclear medicine departments – namely radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists, assistant practitioners and physicists:

  • To raise awareness and update radiation protection culture amongst staff working in radiology and nuclear medicine departments
  • To develop theoretical and practical skills in understanding of and compliance with IR(ME)R

By the end of the day delegates will:

  • Have improved their understanding of IR(ME)R requirements as they apply to radiology and nuclear medicine practice
  • Be able to prepare for an IR(ME)R inspection
  • Be able to plan an audit cycle and undertake relevant audits as required by IR(ME)R
  • Have updated their personal radiation protection knowledge and be able to contribute to helping their department comply with the regulations

Delegates will be sent pre-event study material and be directed in producing a local IR(ME)R audit. Throughout the day, delegates will have access to experts from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Public Health England (PHE) and the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR), plus medical physicists during interactive sessions and break times. Delegates will receive a take home package including an audit tool and training matrix.
