Eric is the Managing Principle of Information Security at GDT and has been in the Information Security field for the past 20 years focused on guiding organizations through the rigors of implementing and demonstrating the technical controls of SOX, GLBA, PCI-DSS, PA-DSS and ISO 27001:2013. He spent his early years in the hospitality industry as a sysadmin and network admin, moving into the security field managing networks, firewalls, IDS/IPS and end point protection systems. He spent several years as a civilian consultant to the DoD monitoring and maintaining critical infrastructure, after which he assisted three level one service providers, two banks, a service provider offering loyalty programs and a major retail organization to implement and demonstrate compliance to PCI-DSS, PA-DSS and ISO 27001. He is currently serving as Secretary for the ISACA North Texas Chapter. Eric was a former advisor and SIG contributor for the PCI Council as a representative of a member organization.
Why become a cybersecurity professional? The protection of information is a critical function for all enterprises. Cybersecurity is a growing and rapidly changing field, and it is crucial that the central concepts that frame and define this increasingly pervasive field are understood by professionals who are involved and concerned with the security implications of Information Technologies. The CSX Fundamentals workshop is designed for this purpose, as well as to provide insight into the importance of cybersecurity, and the integral role of cybersecurity professionals.
This course will also cover four key areas of cybersecurity: 1) cybersecurity architecture principles, 2) security of networks, systems, applications and data, 3) incident response, and 4) the security implications of the adoption of emerging technologies.
The course is designed as a foundational course, it will also prepare learners for the ISACA CSX Cybersecurity Fundamentals Exam.

Note: This course is not designed to cover all knowledge areas that will be tested during the Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate Exam. Therefore, it is recommended that you understand the following concepts prior to taking the exam. Being familiar with these items will also provide you with greater understanding of the materials presented during the workshop:
