Dr. Michael Adamson, ISBA’s Director of Board Services, will be traveling to six locations throughout the state to conduct new board member orientation seminars. Although these seminars are especially beneficial for newly elected board members, they will be equally beneficial for veteran school board members who want a refresher on roles and responsibilities. The seminars will be scheduled from 6:00pm-8:30pm (host school’s local time). Attendance at one of these seminars satisfies the annual “core” meeting requirement for CAP awards and attendees will also earn 10 CAP points. All attendees will be provided the latest revision of ISBA”s manual, Model of Board Governance manual. A variety of subjects will be covered during the evening such as, roles and responsibilities, ethical board conduct, board/board and board/superintendent relationships, plus an overview of school, to name a few. Additionally, there will be ample time for Q & A.
There will not be a meal served as part of this meeting, but attendees will be provided light refreshments by the host school. Please register as soon as possible to assist us in providing the host schools accurate numbers for their planning purposes. The dates and locations are as follows:
