METC is now offering the popular ISTE Certification through a virtual-only process. This nine week online course will enable educators to continue professional learning and acquire skills to support their roles in new virtual instruction. Participants will attend three virtual sessions via Zoom with asynchronous activities between sessions.

ISTE Certification is a competency-based, vendor-neutral teacher certification based on the ISTE Standards. This digital credential recognizes educators who understand how to use EdTech for learning in meaningful and transformative ways.

Certification Process:

The ISTE Certification process will begin with educators participating in a nine-week online learning cohort based on the ISTE Standards and transformative pedagogy. Content will be taught in four main modules, with a fifth module of showcasing artifacts. 

After completing the training course with METC, participants will move to the Portfolio Submission Course with ISTE staff and additional educators from around the world who have completed the training from other providers. 

Participants will then have an additional six months to apply their learning by composing artifacts and reflections into a competency-based portfolio to earn ISTE Certification.

PHASE ONE: virtual learning, cohort team building

Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CST
Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CST

PHASE TWO: online learning with cohort, modified self-paced
March 15 - May 16, 2021 - complete five modules of learning, over eight weeks

PHASE THREE: online collaboration, independent work
May 23 – November 23, 2021 – curation of artifacts and portfolio build

Portfolio of Artifacts
Once the nine week course is completed, participants have up to 6 months to complete their portfolio of 9-14 artifacts to be submitted to the ISTE Portfolio Course for review. Access to ISTE’s Certification portal is provided where participants can receive feedback from all cohorts world-wide as they prepare their portfolio of artifacts and reflections. Once submitted, ISTE Certification Evaluators will review the artifacts. Those who successfully meet the certification will become ISTE Certified Educators.
