Registration for this event is now closed.

Alnoba is a 13,684 square foot sustainable retreat center in New England that combines traditional timber-frame design and construction with a high-performance building shell, and includes event, educational and exhibition spaces.  It is the first of its kind Passive House certified building.

Please join AIANH at Alnoba on June 13 when we will gather on a beautiful summer evening to hear from project architect, Matthew O'Malia AIA, GO Logic, Inc., Belfast, ME.   Matthew's presentation will explore the development of GO Logic’s approach to certifying a variety of Passive House project types, and how this was applied to solve the unique challenges of certifying Alnoba. Matthew will describe how the Passive House approach can accommodate a variety of occupancies, large areas of glazing, a full commercial kitchen and an open masonry fire place.  While not a conventional passive house building, this project demonstrates that through careful detailing and planning, a wide range of functions and architectural expressions are possible, while still archiving the rigorous demands of the Passive House standard.

The evening includes a tour of the facilities, a buffet dinner and a cash bar.

On this evening we will also recognize the New Hampshire Architecture Foundation 2018 Scholarship winners.
