Ferd is a native of Quincy, Illinois, a Rockhurst University alumnus (BSBA and MBA), a UMKC alumnus (JD), a business owner, a practicing attorney, and is actively involved in the Kansas City Catholic community. Ferd and his beautiful wife Angela live in Kansas City and have one son (Anthony) and a daughter coming in February 2017. Ferd joined Pike in 2004 and continues to support Pike and its mission. Ferd also played collegiate baseball at Rockhurst University and stays active in recreational sports to this day.
In his professional career, Ferd is an economic development attorney with a unique mix of private and public sector experience. In addition to his legal background, Ferd's education and entrepreneurial nature have aided him in the private sector in building a real estate investment company. For over five years Ferd served his community at Jackson County in a variety of positions in the Administration, Economic Development, and Assessment departments. Through his experience analyzing deals and sitting on Tax Increment Financing Commissions, Ferd has a critical eye for solving problems and navigating the government processes. Ferd’s role in government relations and his involvement in Jackson County’s mass transit initiative, including serving on MARC’s Total Transportation Policy Committee, allows him to work in a variety of dimensions of local government. Serving as Jackson County’s Director of Assessment (the youngest ever to hold the position at 28), where he oversaw an $8,000,000 budget and 75 employees, gave him greater insights into the valuation of personal and real property, as well as experience with assessment levies and the handling of property tax appeals. His various positions at Jackson County honed Ferd’s skills in analysis, project and people management, and putting deals together.
